Beginner Cello Lessons

Starting from the basics of how to sit and hold a cello and bow and how to play your first notes, Alex will teach you to play a progression of basic cello repertoire appropriate to your tastes and preferred style of music.

Even if you have no (or little) experience of the cello or reading music, Alex will help you learn to play the cello with the correct technique. With a balance between challenging and fun, Alex’s cello tuition will ensure you enjoy playing the cello while making steady progress in improving your ability.

Intermediate and Advanced Cello Tuition

Alex can help you take your cello playing to the next level by teaching you how to play a range of more challenging repertoire and giving you expert feedback and guidance on your technique.

While guiding you towards the most appropriate pieces of music to encourage you to improve, Alex will help you to accurately perform more of the subtleties and intricacies of the music as well as helping you learn to play with more expression.

Cello Ensembles Performance and Grades

One of the best parts of learning an instrument is meeting and playing with other musicians. Alex organises regular informal cello pupil concerts where her students have the opportunity to perform some of the pieces they have been learning and to take part in cello ensemble pieces with her other students. Don’t worry, it’s fine just to come along and listen and meet other cellists if you prefer!

Alex encourages students to participate in the Norfolk County Music Festival in which they are able to perform a piece of music they have been learning and receive feedback from a professional musician.

If students wish to work through their cello grades, Alex provides a tailored programme of tuition to prepare her pupils for their graded examinations. She will guide you through choosing and learning the appropriate repertoire as well as helping you bring your technique up to the required standard.
